Lens of Another Reality

“You know how people say that you can never take anything for granted?

From the day we were born, everybody gave me a distant and unwonted look. People or society termed me ‘rich’ and wanted only to use the resources. But, you were different. You saw me as a part of you yourself. You didn’t look at others as ‘rich’ or ‘poor’, instead you viewed them as your family, as your friends. Your eyes were full of color considering this society whose eyes were monotone. Maybe, that’s why people follow you, believe in you, look up to you.

I was naïve back then, my ego and craving for power blinding me. I used you for my benefit, for my own self-desire to stand tall among all, but still, you smiled. You smiled and opened your heart for me. For a person so cold as myself, you kept no hard feelings and embraced me as your own. You were compassionate, kind and loving. This society has done you nothing but harm, never did they cared about you, never did you cross their minds. Always hurting you till one’s extent. Even so, you never changed. Still the same loving, kind and compassionate you. Maybe, that’s why people changed, loved you, cherished the moments with you.

With the aging time, people started individuating between high-class and low-class. They started discriminating people for their color of skin, their religion, their race, et cetera. The aristocrats got hold of jobs, power and money, looking down upon the common people, leaving them to starve and die. But, in your arms, no matter it be aristocrats or the common people, they were all the same to you. You gave home to aristocrats and to common people, you helped them both in their need. Maybe, that’s why they bow before you, pledge their life for you, worship you.

Nobody knows how you came to be, and I guess nobody will. You were always there when we needed a friend to lean onto, always there in sickness and in health. So, this is just a note reminding you that, we want to be the friend who you can lean onto, who you can share that silly joke with, who you can see the future with. We are that friend. Yes, I am your friend.”
