Interest over Priority?

et's talk about a very simple topic today.
"Language". Yes, language; an asset for every person. Able to
understand many different language is directly proportional to the diverse
development of your brain. The more language you know, the more people you meet,
communicate and you understand their culture which ultimately leads to the
diverse development of your brain.
We know for simple that English is the world's No. 1 and
most powerful language. And after that comes Chinese, French, Spanish and the
list goes on. So, first priority is given to English and Chinese and so on.
This is the reason why people are learning languages, based on priority and
power.
So, it's not uncommon to see people speaking English
fluently like a native speaker. Or Chinese. This is the most common thing we
encounter in our day-to-day life.
Now, let's look back to the 2nd para and whip your brain to
work. 'Cause your brain has become too stale. Think about the other languages.
Where do they come? Let's take Nepali language for example. Where does it come?
Top 50? Top 100? I believe, every spot has been taken by the other minor
Chinese language. So, anyway, what I am saying is that, people are not familiar
with Nepali language because it's not in the priority, so why should people bother
learning it, right?
Right. But, like the Nepalese people struggling to learn
Chinese language, the Chinese too are struggling in learning Nepalese language.
Even though Nepalese language has no use, why bother? I ask some of my friends
here in Hong Kong about the same.
"Because it's an interest. And the main reason why I am
learning Nepali language is so that I can communicate with the elderly in
village area in Nepal." says a pharmacist, who has completed his Master
Degree, and who has visited Nepal 3 times and has explored even the
Annapurna Camp, Gorkha, Pokhara, Kathmandu, and other places. (Wow, even I
haven't been to so many places. XD)
"I want to learn more about the Nepali culture and
tradition and music, and also the slang words Nepalese use. So, it's my
interest. :D" says a part-time worker who has completed his Bachelor In
Environmental Science, and who plans on visiting Nepal very soon.
So, there are these kinds of people who not only focuses on
the priority but also on their interests in learning new language.
Like I said, knowing more language is directly proportional
to the overall development of oneself.
Till next time. Ciao.
