Crews stick together!!!
Traditionally known by its 5-day ritual, Tihar is one of the
important festivals celebrated by Nepalese people, not only in Nepal itself,
but also all around the world. ‘Festival of Lights’ aka Tihar marks the end of
the festive season. And with the end of the festive season, means the end of
long holidays for youngsters like us. So, unfortunately for us, and fortunately
for our elders, we return back to college. How happy would our
parents be since we won’t be at home to irritate them all day after the
colleges start, right? But, nevertheless, we are also youngsters, always
creative and thinking of a way to every solution. So, gossips and talks
surround our environment when we meet our friend after such a long vacation.
And among those talks would be, “Did you guys go for deusi-bhailo program?”
‘Festival of Lights’ is widely popular among everyone, from
old grandpas and grandmas to the very generation of youngsters for its
tradition of deusi-bhailo programs. Deusi- bhailo programs start from the
third day of the festival. These are the fun factors in this festival which people
relishes. Youngsters form a group and plans about the program, and then they
head out to different houses to play deusi-bhailo.
This is the best way to have fun with friends and enjoy the holidays. For I
believe, during this program, youngsters will be able to showcase their talents
and experience something new learn many things about our tradition, festivals
and culture.
So keeping in mind all of these things, I along with my friends
set sail door-to-door playing deusi-bhailo.
We started going for deusi-bhailo
from last year and we had so much fun last year. So, this year also, we planned
to have fun and follow our group’s motto ‘Young, Wild and Free’… :P Our group
consisted of 14 crews, and we set sail for deusi-bhailo
for three days starting from the third day to the final day of Tihar. And some
of our crews were unable to rejoin us the last day, but, nonetheless, young,
wild and free guys.. This year also, it was a really good experience like
previous year. Well, this year, I, along with Manish, Shreyak and Raunak played
guitar. :D I had never played guitar in any occasion, but this time, I played
it, and of course with my friends’ support. It was a totally new experience for
me and I had lots of fun. Besides this, I with my friends Saugat, Raman,
Raunak, Shreyak were the ones with the dance moves. We were like, hit the dance
floor and the most fun part was that the people too joined us. They were like, ‘let’s
live the moment’. It sure was fun. We could do it all night, but you know,
certain rules set by the government for the deusi-bhailo
group like ours to play till 10 at night. But, you know, time doesn’t stop a
total fun-lovers like us. Time was merely an obstacle that we overcame like we
always do.
So, overall, this year’s festive season ended pretty well
for me and my friends. So, guys, live the moment cuz you ain’t gonna have
another chance. And remember to live it up till 10 at night… LOL!!
