Changa Chait..!!
Dashain is a unique festival not only because it holds the
legend where Durga goddess emerges and kills the demon Mahishasura where good
is the victor over evil, but is also popular among both children and adults for
its charm of kite flying. Dashain is the perfect time for kite flying. Dashain
is that time of the year where people have long holidays, so they can enjoy to
their fullest. Dashain is observed for 15 days. Since this year’s Dashain ended
very well for me, I would like to share some of my views and experiences on
kite flying.
Kite flying is the most selected activity by the people for
their to-dos list in Dashain. People
are really seized by the idea of kite flying, adding that Dashain is the
perfect time for kite flying and the weather is also on our favor. Surely, why
wouldn’t people be seized by even the slightest idea of kite flying? I mean,
just give a clear thought, we are so pulled towards the attraction of kites
when watching them flying in the sky, what would the new experience be like
when we, ourselves fly our kites?
I believe kite flying is really an awesome means of
entertainment. There is a different and unique experience of kite flying. I
mean, who wouldn’t like to raise war against other fliers and battle with them,
and shout ‘changa chait’ with friends
when their warrior (kites) falls and we grab victory in the grasp of our
palm??!! And the most fun part is to pinpoint the exact location of the fallen
kite and run like never before just to get that kite. And another fun part is
to team up with our friends to battle with other group of fliers. Not only
this, we can team with strangers just to take down one warrior (kite) which has
soar the sky the longest… heheh..!! So, after reading all this, who wouldn’t
want to taste new experiences, huh?
I have my own experience of kite flying. I am not such a
talented and great flier like people judge greatness as. But, I fly good enough
to satisfy my heart’s desire to fly kites and soar them high above the sky. I
remember the good old times I spent Dashain flying kites with my friends. I
remember that once we gathered up at my house and we flew kites to our hearts’
content. And that was the first time we guys flew kites together, such a
memorable moments. Next time we gathered up at another friend’s house and
there, we teamed up together and raised war against other fliers we could see
at the terrace or veranda. Our
warriors were tough to break apart and fall, so I believed the other fliers
were having a hard time piercing through our defense. But sadly, we lost all
our warriors and ultimately lost. But we lost a battle, not war. We met up with
the same fliers and revenge was taken.. heheh..!!! I remember all those
memories flashing through my minds right now about how we shouted ‘changa chait’ in our top voices after
we cut a kite. We even ran to get the fallen kites, but sadly, we were always
late to grab the kites. Ahh, those were some moments. But, still, every year I
feel really happy to see the kites soaring high up in the sky. But, nowadays, I
can rarely see kites flying up in the sky.
Changa (kite) will forever spread joy in people’s lives and
Dashain without changa is incomplete and unimaginable. So, fellow friends, let
the changa soar up in the sky like it used to in our grandparent’s days. And
friends, next time, be sure to soar a kite in the sky as the memories that remains Changa are even more
beautiful.
